Charity Gardeners’ Question Time in aid of Rotary International’s campaign to eradicate polio worldwide.
Together with Lady Hamilton of the Apley Estate near Bridgnorth, the Rotary Club of Telford Centre are organising a charity event at the Apley farm Shop on 19th May.
It will include a tour of the Apley walled garden followed by wine and canapés at the farm shop and a Gardeners' Question Time session hosted by Paul Shuttleworth of BBC Radio Shropshire with an expert panel led by David Wassell MBE, Chelsea Gold Medallist and one-time head of landscape contract London Royal Parks.
Expert Panel to Include:
David Wassell MBE - Landscape designer & Chelsea Gold medallist in the prestigious large gardens category; former head of landscape contracts London Royal Parks including St James’s Park & the garden at 10 Downing Street
Phil Allen - Head Gardener of Apley Walled Garden, Horticulturalist & occasional gardening expert on BBC Radio Shropshire.
David Cope of Nobridge Nurseries, Cold Hatton, Shropshire
Paul Shuttleworth – Paul will host our Question Time on 19 May. He also hosts BBC Radio Shropshire’s popular Sunday Garden Questions programme
Programme for the evening
5:30pm Meet at Apley Farm Shop off the A442 South of Norton
6-7:30pm Conducted tour of the nearby beautiful & historic Apley Walled Garden in its lovely setting on the Apley Estate (tour approx. 1hr)
7:30-8pm Glass of wine & canapes (included in ticket price)
Barbecue (not included in ticket price) also available
8-9:30pm Gardeners’ Question Time (approx. end time)
In the event of inclement weather please bring waterproofs & or umbrellas & suitable shoes. Some walking is involved over rough or possibly muddy ground.
