Welcome to Our Website
Who are we
We are the Shropshire regional group and members of the National Cottage Garden Society.
The National Cottage Garden Society (CGS) is a Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Affiliated Society, so our members can seek advice from the RHS free of charge but only through the nominated member of the society (the Chairperson) nominated as the main contact person.
The National Cottage Garden Society was founded in 1982 as an informal and friendly society. It brings together amateurs and professionals who share an enthusiasm for this type of gardening. The Shropshire Cottage Garden Society regional group is for like-minded amateur gardeners in our own county to share ideas and experiences across all age groups.
The purpose of the Shropshire Cottage Garden Society (SCGS) is to foster interest in and knowledge of flowers, gardening and horticulture among amateurs, to aid in the conservation of native plants and wildlife, to encourage civic planting across our county. 30% of the word's crops and 90% of our wild plants cannot thrive without bees to spread pollen, many plants including food crops would simply die off. Our society is helping the local community by fostering an interest in gardening for the good of all and the bees do the rest.
Whether a Master Gardener, a budding flower designer, a garden enthusiast, or a person searching for their green thumb, the Shropshire Cottage Garden Society has something to offer everyone.
